I see remarkable similiarities between the story of Superman and the story of Christ; the son of another world who is sent to Earth, grows up never feeling that he quiet fits in, and then one day learns that he is, in effect, a god living among mortals. And upon learning of the magnificent gifts he has been given, he proceeds to sacrifice any chance of a normal life to try to better a world that he will never completely belong to. A story of sacrifice and courage.
I feel that Superman has more potential as a dramatic and complex character than he gets credit for-the similiarities to the story of Jesus are just one part of it. I dare point out; the temptations Batman feels to murder his villains, to end their threat once and for all has been touched upon in various storylines-so how much greater would be the temptations faced by a man who could conquer the entire world without very much effort?
Hey did any of y'all read Superman and Batman K-arc (starts at #44, has 5 issues, published in 2008). The ending will simply blow your mind and give a new insight into the Superman/Batman partnership. The picture is awesome btw, Kudos.
superman came out in 1938 of may not sure of the day but he is a 74 year old superhero in the comic realm. go supes. im still trying to find the actual day the first issue came out of action comics cause i want to start a superman holiday day thing. would love help from fellow superman fans.
Amazing. I could probably nitpick this piece if I wanted but I don't. This picture is beautiful, it captures everything that is appealing about Superman. His kindness, his seriousness and dedication to his to what he does. He's powerful but his display of power has something of a herculean mysticism to it. He cares about what he's doing, he cares about those who AREN'T invincible. And imagine the responsibility this man must have. I love it. I very much enjoy the coloring as well. Everything pops in just the right way.
Maybe that's not what you were going for but that's what I got from it. I love this. Faved, thanks for sharing it with us.
